Blues Tabs for Guitar

Tablature (tab or tabs for short) is a simple and effective form of musical notation, for learning to play songs on guitar, and blues tabs are a great way to learn to play blues guitar.

The main benefit of tab is that it provides a graphical representation of the guitar fretboard showing you where the notes are actually played. This makes it easy to visualize the notes and play them on your guitar as you read the tabs. Tab tells you exactly which fret and which string to play the note on. This is extremely useful as many notes can be played in various different position on the guitar neck. So using guitar tab can take the guesswork out of  deciding which fret you should play your guitar notes on. This is often not clear to guitar players from standard musical notation, although sometimes the position may be indicated by placing roman numerals below the music stave.

If you use guitar tabs instead of standard notation, you'll be able to get through a song more quickly. However, the main drawback with guitar tab is that it doesn't usually give you the length or timing of the notes. This may cause difficulties with precise musical forms, but is not so much of a problem when playing the blues guitar, as usually the player is improvising and timing is often flexible with blues music.
